Bakersfield Condos with Low Prices and High Expectations
The future of Bakersfield is well planned. The future landscape of Bakersfield will include some high-rise condo towers and hotels. During the March 2007 conference, conference speaker George Martin has challenged executives to continue to build more Bakersfield condos.
During this recent conference, a lot of areas were discussed, areas where the new Bakersfield condos will be built. The Crisp, Cole & Associates Company received mixed approval for the building of the new Bakersfield condos. They plan on building two thirty-one story structures of condos. This project is built for the California State University.
The University so hopes to attract even more students and to increase the city's cultural and educational quality. In addition to the two thirty-one story Bakersfield condo towers, the plans for a four-star hotel , a conference center, office space, retail center and parking are also underway. The building of the two towers is estimated between $300 million to $400 million. Their location will be southwest of the already existing University campus.
This project aims to improve student development and employment but also internship opportunities. In addition this project will stimulate the business in Bakersfield.
But not all residents believe the same. A lot of people have different opinions from those of the builders. The Bakersfield condos market is currently on the downhill. This fact influenced a lot of people in believing that the building of new Bakersfield condos is useless. Most people believe the building of these condo complexes is not necessary, and that the market demand is a lot lower then the vacant condos that the project will build, thus saturating the market.
Moving to Bakersfield is recommended only by the low prices on condos as mentioned above. The inflation-adjusted estimates in 2005 show the average Bakersfield employed person earning an annually average of $21.000 and the average household earnings mount up to about $45.174. These facts being compare to the average United States household income of $51.601 are not showing a positive reason to move here. The economy of Bakersfield relies mainly on agriculture, petroleum extraction and refinement industries. Bakersfield is one of the countries biggest oil producers. Agriculture takes the second spot in Bakersfield economy, making the city one of the largest carrot, grapes, almonds, pistachios, citrus fruits, wheat, garlic and potato producers.
Bakersfield is also known as "California's Country Music Capital". Merle Haggard and Buck Owens are two of such musicians born here.
Another factor that could influence people not to move into a Bakersfield condo is the weather. The city is known for its ozone-pollution. In the summertime, Bakersfield is hot and dry, having about 223 days of sun annually and only 5.72 inches of rain yearly. This influenced the agriculture to specialize on a wide variety of crops that grow during the early springs and long autumns. This is because rain is so scarce that only during autumn and spring agriculture can be practiced, while during the summer temperatures reach 99 degrees.
There isn't much of a historical part of the city. The major earthquake of 1952 managed to destroy the Historic Victorian brick businesses and hotels which were unfortunately placed right over the epicenter of the earthquake. This made Bakersfield loose some of its charm. The area is currently covered by large Bakersfield condo complexes.
