Real Estate Prices Make Converted San Diego Condos Appealing

The price of real estate in southern California has increased at such a rapid pace in the last decade that San Diego condos have become the only home buying option for many people. It is fortunate, however, that there are many San Diego condos for sale to choose from, and there are more going on the market all the time. While some of the San Diego condominiums on the market are really more like luxury homes, with prices sometimes escalating above $1,000,000, there are definitely some more affordable options.

Conversions are by far some of the most inexpensive options in the marketplace of San Diego condos for sale. These are units that were previously apartments, but developers have bought out the entire buildings and turned all of the units into condominiums. These San Diego condominiums make the most of the real estate space in the city, because they use buildings that are already present to provide homeownership possibilities. While there may be some San Diego condos for sale that still look like apartments, maybe just with a fresh coat of paint, there are others that have had major renovations done.

An example of some of the finer converted San Diego condos is Capella in the central location of La Mesa. The converted San Diego condominiums come in one- and two-bedroom floor plans that have been renovated with raised panel entry doors, interior colonist doors and mirrored wardrobe doors. The kitchens now include granite countertops, maple cabinetry with concealed hinges, stainless steel appliances, stainless steel sinks with garbage disposals, and chrome pull-out faucets. The San Diego condos for sale at Capella also include two-tone interior paint, ceiling fans, designer light fixtures, chrome plumbing fixtures, and Décora light switches and outlets.

All of these San Diego condos also include generous patios and balconies with storage, vaulted ceilings and fireplaces in select units, and central air and heat. These features would be unheard of in a standard apartment building. This is just one example; there are many converted San Diego condos for sale that are equally distinctive and come at a great price.

Many apartment owners are opting to convert their apartment building into San Diego condominiums. Renters are usually given an option of purchasing their apartment at a good price, or new buyers can purchase any of the San Diego condos for sale. Renters are able to purchase comfortable San Diego condos at a substantially lower price than most homes. They may also be able to get into their new home with a very small down payment, and their mortgage payment may be the same or only slightly higher than their original rent price.

Rising home prices in southern California don’t have to be a deterrent for new homebuyers. There are some great opportunities among the San Diego condos for sale throughout the county. For first time homebuyers and people looking to down-size to a more convenient and maintenance-free environment, converted San Diego condos may be the best opportunities to build some quick equity and get into a great home.
