Riverdale Condos
Riverdale is a Bronx neighborhood that is about 3 square miles in area and it is bordered by Yonkers and Westchester County to the north, Van Cortlandt Park and the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx to the east, the Harlem River to the south, and the Hudson River to the south. Riverdale is made up of mostly middle and upper class residents. Originally Riverdale was built to cater to white Protestant families but currently the neighborhood has Orthodox Jews, Germans, Greeks, and Koreans.
There are many restaurant and shopping possibilities in Riverdale and for a smaller community there are 3 private schools and two colleges. There is also a great bar scene near Manhattan college. The area is changing as there are not many chic restaurants in the area but with the influx of urban professionals that should change soon. A couple of the highlights in Riverdale are Wave Hill, which is both a botanical garden and outdoor art gallery, and the Bell Tower. The lush greenery of the area makes it one of the more beautiful neighborhoods in the Bronx.
In 2005 until the present time, there has been a large boom in real estate in terms of mid and high rise condo buildings going up, as dozens have sprung up in this time. The most popular spot for the new condominium developments in Riverdale is near the shopping center on Riverdale Avenue.
There are also quite a few ultra luxury condominiums in Fieldston and the Solaria, which I the tallest building in Riverdale where a 5 bedroom condo goes for as much as 3.75 million. Riverdale opened its first public high school in 1999 and many people are flocking to the area especially from Manhattan where it is hard to afford any kind of N.Y. condo. There is also and convenient transportation to Manhattan by either by bus, subway, and commuter rail.
