Condominiums In Throgs Neck New York
Television’s notable crime drama “Law and Order SVU” and movies such as “Summer of Sam” and “One Flew Over the Cuckoo Nest all have one thing in common. They were all filmed at a Throgs Neck in the Bronx. These shows only helped to brighten the glow that the town already has on the nation’s map.
Throgs Neck is located on the southeastern side of the Bronx and it is within the vicinity of other towns like Pelham Bay and Co-op City. Close by within the vicinity of Throgs Neck Bridge is Locust Point which has a Puerto Rican, Italian and Greek population and a well-known yacht club. Not too far away is Silver Beach, which was once regarded as a resort and is now a co-operative.
A visiting Englishman who went by the name John Throkmorton gave Throgs Neck the name. At the time the town was known as Vriedelandt. Throkmorton spelt the name “Throg” with an extra “g” and it was later changed to one “g” by a New York Commissioner. The Commissioner argued that the extra “g” in the city’s name would have been too long to fit on street signs. Today both spellings are acceptable and are used.
Throgs Neck was an area originally filled with estates and farms during the 19th century. Natives of Ireland who would visit the city and eventually settle with their families often visited it. Italian farmers also occupied the estates of Throgs Neck. Before long, Throgs Neck went through a development period. Beach clubs and waterfront condominiums were added to the mix making it an area that was considered fit for both the middle and the upper class.
Of interest is the Throgs Neck Lighthouse which once provided safety for the fleets, the nearby museum and and the Throgs Neck bridge. The N.Y. condos in Throgs Neck are charming and have a price tag of $600,000 and upwards. The price will be determined by how close you choose to live on the oceanfront.
Mostly two bedrooms, the condominiums in this city all boast of having glass sliding doors which gives way to a enchanting patio area. Walk-in closets, wall to wall carpeting and assigned parking are some of the perks of living in a condo in this area.
The N.Y. condos at Silver Beach, which also vary in price, are also very livable and fancy. Because of this, there is a criterion that would-be tenants must meet in order to live there. At least that’s what it says on paper. Truthfully, it would do you a world of good if you personally knew a few persons who sat on the co-op Board.
