Located on a peninsula which extends west into a bend of the East River is the neighborhood of Hunts Points. Westchester Avenue acts as the boundary for Hunts Point to the north, the Bronx River to the east is considered a boundary, the East River to the south identifies another boundary, and Prospect Avenue is Hunts Point’s boundary to the west. The neighborhoods of Hunts Point, Longwood, and Intervale Valley are all part of the community district area where the location of Hunts Point lies.
Hunts Point-Longwood is part of the Bronx Community District 2. Approximately 11,000 people actually reside in Hunts Point; however, around 25,000 workers are employed in various industry positions. The area is primarily populated by those people of Latin-American origin, with 76% of the residents being Hispanic, and 21% is African-American.

These numbers may appear rather unimpressive; however, it is worth noting that a large number of residents, age 25 and older, are high school graduates. This averages about 50% of the total residents of Hunts Point. Colin Powell, former US Secretary of State, once called Hunts Point home. Additionally, the 2005 candidate for Mayor of New York, Fernando Ferrer, also comes from Hunts Point.
Recent articles have shed light on the Hunts Point/Longwood neighborhood, and some of them are casting these areas in a rather favorable light. One article speaks of Hunts Point as being considered the new Williamsburg (another neighborhood in close proximity.) Further, funds were arecently made available for the construction of a “green” area in Hunts Point. Plans are being made and implemented for recreational facilities, walking and biking areas, and community gardens to be included within this location.
It is thought and hoped that such positive publicity would lure those who work in Hunts Point to consider living in Hunts Point. To this end, the proliferation of condominium properties, both newly-built and those that have been formed as a result of renovation, in Hunts Point/Longwood and surrounding neighborhoods, can only serve as a catalyst for growth and improvement. Those workers who find themselves commuting every day to their jobs in Hunts Point could benefit from the different units that are available for condo living.

Prices are set accordingly; however, most condo units are affordable to a good number of working people, making them an excellent choice for those who may wish to end their daily commute and be more accessible to their place of employment.
