Condos In Kingsbridge New York
Kingsbridge is a neighborhood located in the Bronx borough of New York City. Bronx borough has a mayor-council form of government; neighborhoods fall under various Community Boards. Kingsbridge’s north boundary includes West 240th Street and Van Cortland Park. The southern boundary of Kingsbridge includes Fordham Road; this boundary also acts as a delineation between the Kingsbridge neighborhood and the Marble Hill, Manhattan, neighborhood. Jerome Park Reservoir is located on Kingsbridge’s east boundary.
Kingsbridge’s west boundary is described as “a large hill”. This “large hill” forms a demarkation between Kingsbridge and the neighborhood of Riverdale. The boundaries of Riverdale and Kingsbridge are so ambiguous that Kingsbridge is sometimes referred to as Riverdale’s “rich uncle”. Additionally, a series of “step streets”, some numbering as many as 160, are present along the Riverdale/Kingsbridge boundary, providing a unique form of access between the two neighborhoods.
Kingsbridge was named for “The King’s Bridge”. This structure actually existed, and was erected in 1693 by Fredrtrick Philispe. Originally, the bridge connected what was considered “continental North America”, which is now that area of New York City known as the Bronx, and Marble Hill. Marble Hill was once a part of the island of Manhattan. Kingsbridge was originally inhabited by Americans of predominantly Irish heritage. The neighborhood is now largely populated by Hispanics; however, some families who claim Irish descendency, both older and younger people, still remain in the neighborhood.
The change in ethnic population in Kingsbridge is indicative of other neighborhoods, not only in the Bronx borough, but in other New York boroughs besides. Change, however, may often bring improvement; it certainly affords ways that those who are in the N.Y. real estate business can better serve the citizens of a neighborhood. Once such way is seen in the proliferation of condominium-style residential properties (most commonly referred to as “condos”). A typical condominium property consists of individual units, housed within a multi-story structure.
The Kingsbridge neighborhood offers a wide variety of N.Y. condo properties. The properties (that is, the entire structure itself) offer units containing anywhere from three bedrooms and two bathrooms in the more moderately-priced structures, to “luxury” units with three bedrooms and three-and-one-half bathrooms.
Currently, there are several condominium properties for sale in the area of the Kingsbridge neighborhood. Units within the property would sell or rent for various amounts, depending on the amenities offered.
