Coosing Between Old and New Condos in Seattle
Real estate experts have some disagreement over whether Seattle new condos or older Seattle condominiums are better to invest in. Both types of condo offer some great selections in the Washington real estate market, and buyers shouldn't rule out either type of residence. There are some different advantages and drawbacks to owning older Seattle condominiums that differ from those of Seattle new condos, though, that potential buyers should definitely investigate.
The Seattle new condos on the market are attractive to buyers for many reasons. A new condo will be bright, clean and offer all the latest appliances. It's also nice to know that no one else has lived in these Seattle new condos, so buyers can be the first residents. Most Seattle new condos are being built in areas that are being revitalized, as well, which is where an older neighborhood is being given a new light. This means many new retail shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and entertainment venues will likely be built around the condo.
The drawbacks to Seattle new condos, however, are that they do tend to look very similar to one another both inside and out. The size of new condos also seems to be diminishing, as the amount of available space in the city has inevitably shrunk as more people are living in the city. Seattle new condos also tend to cost a bit more and have higher property taxes than an older condo, but they should appreciate in value at a faster rate so they a re a good investment.
Older Seattle condominiums, on the other hand, tend to be larger than a newer condo. Many older Seattle condominiums also have a level of construction quality that is becoming hard to find these days. Sometimes units built around the turn of the century and into the 1950s are converted into Seattle condominiums, and they were really built to last. They also have certain architectural elements that have seen a huge resurgence in popularity. Some of the drawbacks associated with older Seattle condominiums are things like outdated fixtures or plumbing and electrical systems, and the fact that there can be a lot of wear and tear on an older condo.
The choice between Seattle new condos and older Seattle condominiums is really up to the buyers. Both types of condo have some great benefits that are wonderful points for any condo owner. But remember to consider the negatives of the condo or the area in which the property sits. Buyers should do their homework and find the location that suits them and their needs the best. There are many Seattle new condos being built right now that people can even buy in the preconstruction phase. There are also still many of the older units available, offering great deals in the real estate market.
