Washington D.C was named after the nations first President, George Washington. This is fitting considering it was devised in the 1800's to be a permanent capital for the United States of America. Protests and rallies are a common part of daily life in the capitol, especially around the National Mall area that contains the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the National World War II memorial, the Albert Einstein Memorial and a host of others. The growth in government jobs since 911 helped fuel the development of new Washington D.C. condos.
Washington D.C has a fast growing economy and a lot of employment opportunities. This may be why the Washington D.C condo market has been booming. Because close to thirty percent of the jobs in the area are for the Federal Government. This makes Washington D.C. recession proof since the government continues to run, and create more jobs, no matter what the state of the rest of the country's economy.
