Since 1847, an apple orchard has been a landmark on this historic crest beside what was once the log cabin Root Creek Post Office, serving the small settlements in Greenfield. Later, the orchard provided fresh fruit to travelers on the Janesville Plank Road. Today, that same orchard has been preserved for the residents of The Orchard, Greenfield’s newest condominium community in this premier location.
